What is the ECO4 Scheme?

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a UK government initiative designed to help households improve their energy efficiency, reduce heating costs, and lower carbon emissions. Running until March 2026, the scheme is part of a £4 billion commitment to support vulnerable and low-income households across Great Britain.

 
Who Is Eligible?

You may qualify for ECO4 if:

You receive certain benefits, such as:

• Universal Credit
• Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
• Income Support
• Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
• Housing Benefit
• Child Benefit (subject to income thresholds)
• You live in social housing with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E, F, or G.
• You own or privately rent a home with an EPC rating of D, E, F, or G, and have the landlord’s permission to make improvements.
• You meet specific health criteria, such as having a long-term health condition adversely affected by living in a cold home, or have a combined household income under £31,000.
   

What Support Is Available?

ECO4 offers fully funded or heavily subsidised installations for:

• Loft and cavity wall insulation
• Replacement or repair of inefficient boilers
• First-time central heating systems
• Renewable heating solutions
• District heating connections

These measures aim to make homes warmer, reduce energy bills, and contribute to the UK's net-zero targets.
