What is the ECO4 Scheme?
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a UK government initiative designed to help households improve their energy efficiency, reduce heating costs, and lower carbon emissions. Running until March 2026, the scheme is part of a £4 billion commitment to support vulnerable and low-income households across Great Britain.
Who Is Eligible?
You may qualify for ECO4 if:
You receive certain benefits, such as:
- Universal Credit
- Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Housing Benefit
- Child Benefit (subject to income thresholds)
- You live in social housing with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of E, F, or G.
- You own or privately rent a home with an EPC rating of D, E, F, or G, and have the landlord’s permission to make improvements.
- You meet specific health criteria, such as having a long-term health condition adversely affected by living in a cold home, or have a combined household income under £31,000.
